Winnie decides to renew her
contract with Rock Records and stay on with the Record
Company which she has been with for the last 11 years.
Winnie joined Rock Records in
1992 and after waiting patiently for two years, she finally released
her first record under the label called "領悟".
It is through this successful album that Winnie
became famous overnight and won the title of
was being released, some thought that the song is too difficult and not
will be able to sing it, therefore it will be tough for this album to be
established male singer at that time even joked with Jonathan Lee, the
producer of this album that if
"領悟" turns out successful, he will chop off his head.
As Winnie shares this
little story, she said with a laugh, "Now I remember someone still owes me
shared further on her decision to stay on, "I have been with Rock for so
many years and I have deeply-seated feelings for the Company. When
the Company was going through its worst patch, I did not leave. All
the more, I will not walk out now."
When her contract with Rock
Records ended beginning of this year, Winnie spent some time
to consider the future of her career. And, after about six
months, she finally decided to stay on with Rock
Records, with one condition. She wants to be the producer of her own

The Record Company's Director has given her his fullest support
and promised to give her the greatest freedom in the making of her
next album. Although there is no formal
written agreement between both parties, and everything is based
on trust, Winnie is still grateful for the wonderful support she
has received when she personally faced the big
boss. For the new album, she has also rallied two other
musically-talented friends to come together and
form a formidable trio production team. She will also be travelling
to Beijing for the album recording. One of
the greatest challenge in being a producer, she admits,
is budget planning; as a singer, in the past, she did not have to
worry about such issues.
Winnie's new album was
originally scheduled for release in end 2003. Due to her involvement
in the Musical "Butterfly Lovers", which took up about three months of
her time this year, the schedule has been delayed and the new album
can only be released in 2004. Winnie said,
